Joe Scarborough Hits Back At Trump ‘Sick Puppy’ Snub By Citing His ‘Conservative’ Record In Congress: ‘We’re The Leftists?!’

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough hit back at former President Donald Trump for calling him a “sick puppy” by citing his own record as an elected Republican in Congress.

Trump’s insults came after Scarborough claimed on Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher that the former president’s team said they would arrest his producers. Trump responded in a Sunday interview with Fox News host Howard Kurtz for MediaBuzz. Kurtz pressed the former president about Scarborough’s comment, only for Trump to deny the claim and dismiss the MSNBC host as a “sick puppy.”

On Monday’s Morning Joe, Scarborough hit back. The host began by blasting the Wall Street Journal editorial board for an article published Monday that dismissed concern that Trump’s rhetoric was “fascism” as a “meme” peddled by “radical leftists” in the media.

Scarborough addressed the criticism leveled at him, pivoting off the editorial’s slighting of historian Anne Applebaum and her sounding the alarm of authoritarian rhetoric.

For the Wall Street Journal editorial, [Applebaum’s] the radical leftist. Doesn’t that tell you something?

Me, somebody who is far more conservative than Donald Trump, or 99% of the Republicans in Congress? Conservative, by the way, we used to talk about being conservative, like balancing budgets, pushing back against Russian aggression like Reagan did, like Reagan conservatives. Far more conservative than anybody in Congress that I’ve seen over the past eight years. Far more conservative on those basic structures of what we grew up knowing conservatism is. And Anne Applebaum is the person here called out as being the radical leftist. It’s revealing, isn’t it?

And here, [pointing to himself], somebody with a 95 percent conservative lifetime record in Congress, we’re the leftists? We’re the, quote, sick puppies, which Donald Trump said yesterday.

Turning to attack Fox News, Scarborough slammed Kurtz for failing to playback clips from Trump officials during the MediaBuzz interview to challenge the former president with evidence of his allegations.

When another Fox News interviewer said, ‘Scarborough once said that your people said they were going to go after Morning Joe.’ Instead of playing the tape of Kash Patel saying that, Steve Bannon saying that, giving him that evidence…

Again, it’s smoke and mirrors. Again, I’m concerned about this because it’s shameful, and it doesn’t call out authoritarian language. But make no mistake, the pace is quickening, and there is a reason he is saying, every day, Democrats are the enemy within. Democrats are the enemy within. [Nancy] Pelosi and [Adam] Schiff and all of these people. They know, everybody knows.

Watch above on MSNBC.
